Once you launch the program and upload a picture from your machine, you will be able to obtain some extensive information about the photo you are planning to work on. To do so, just click the “I” button or just choose Image menu -> Information. You will be getting information about the file name, directory in which it can be found+full file path, print size in cm/inches, original/current colors per pixel, the number of unique colors of the image and many other useful details.
IrfanView offers the basic palette of editing tools like crop, resize, rotate, modify brightness, contrast, tint, gamma level, and more. My favorite part of a photo editing tool is the Special effects section, so those like me will be happy to explore IrfanView’s extra functionalities: 3D buttons, blur, emboss, oil paint, edge detection, median, explosion, pixelize, sepia, raindrops.
Users can also create panorama images by gluing together multiple images, explore EXIF and IPTC metadata. Edited photographs can then be immediately sent via email or FTP.
All in all, for the non-professional media file user, IrfanView provides a good experience and a sufficient amount of editing options. Its executable is also very easily downloadable since it’s only 1.7 MB. The layout is clean and simple and won’t turn the whole editing experience into mind-boggling.
